It’s THURSDAY! And in the spirit of #ThrowbackThursday I’ve decided to go back into the archives and re-release an older episode that I think might be relevant to today, and also, to show how far along The Spann Report as a podcast, and Mr. Spann as a host has come. This episode is exactly 5 years old today.

In Episode 11 of #TSRP Mr. Spann embraces his inner nerd, talks about the push to make feature film “The Help” into a Hollywood blockbuster and about the state of quality Hip Hop in Detroit. And later in the show Spann addresses the Poverty Bus Tour spearheaded by Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornel West, the riots over in the UK, and Mr. Spann makes a trip back home to Chicago that was epic for reasons you might not expect.

Music Played During Show:

1.) “Celebration” by: Tank featuring Drake (Now Or Never Album)
2.) “Loud Noises” by: Bad Meets Evil featuring Slaughterhouse (Hell – The Sequel Album)
3.) “Love Through Her” by: The Weeknd
4.) “Homecoming” by: Kanye West featuring Chris Martin (Graduation Album)
5.) “Out Of Character” by: Avant (Avant Album)
6.) “No Church In The Wild by: Jay-Z & Kanye West featuring Frank Ocean (Watch The Throne Album)

On episode 117 of #TSRP, Spann rejoices at the head explosions around the world with the Cleveland Cavaliers beating the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. #UnpopularBlackOpinion returns and y’all might think Spann is out of his mind. (Or is he?) Voters in the United Kingdom are reeling after passing a binding referendum to leave the European Union. Many voters there are asking for a do over. Could something similar to that happen here in the United States? The BET Awards happened and Jessie Williams of Grey’s Anatomy set the world on fire with his Humanitarian Award speech. How did he manage to have black men, and white women mad at him. And what exactly is cultural appropriation? We’ve got new Asshat and Champ of The Week Candidates, and listener feedback to respond to as well this week on The Spann Report!

On episode 116 of #TSRP Spann has was being stalked by a chicken. Yes, you read that right, a chicken. And every now and then, the job lets Spann do something really cool, yet also very important. And It’s SPANN’S BIRTHDAY! So we’ll celebrate a little bit. Mothers celebrating themselves on Fathers’s Day, is that really still a thing? The NBA Finals are going on right now, and folks swear it’s rigged. Well, it is right? And then we switch gears and talk about the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, FL. Was it terrorism? Was it homophobia? Was it radical Islam? And why do we have to then engage in a competition to determine who’s suffered the most? Should certain types of Firearms be banned? Lots of questions to be asked for sure. We’ll discuss them here. And of course we have a new AssHat & Champ of The Week, and new listener feedback! All of that this week on The Spann Report!
