On episode 153 of #TSRP Spann hits you up with a late night edition of the show. (Didn’t start recording until after 1 AM) But tonight’s show mainly focuses on the blatant disrespect shown to black women on all levels. Whether that be a United States Congresswoman from California, to a journalist in Washington DC, to a political commentator forced to try to explain racism to people who already know their being racist while feigning ignorance. Tonight, we’ll also talk about the ways in which some black men are complicit in the disrespect these sisters are facing on the day to day basis. We’ve also got poll results and more tonight on The Spann Report!

Taco Bell employees are suing their franchisee for THEFT OF WAGES, as he gamed the system to get out of paying them. Former Inkster Police Officer William Melendez has been released from prison after a 14 month stint for beating motorist Floyd Dent during a traffic stop caught on tape. Was his sentence too light? And it’s SUPER BOWL SUNDAY! And even the Super Bowl has been marred by politics, namely because of one team’s close affiliation with the current person occupying the White House. Has there ever been a team more disliked because of their association with a sitting US President? And of course, we’ve got our new AssHat & Champ of The Week, tonight on The Spann Report!

After a 2 week hiatus, Mr. Spann returns to the mic to talk about the election of Donald Trump as President of The United States, what it means for America, and particular what it means for minority groups. Spann also addresses the dancing around the obvious elephant in the room, as the media, and politicians call for reconciliation after one of the most overtly antagonistic campaigns in a generation.

It’s THURSDAY! And in the spirit of #ThrowbackThursday I’ve decided to go back into the archives and re-release an older episode that I think might be relevant to today, and also, to show how far along The Spann Report as a podcast, and Mr. Spann as a host has come. This episode is exactly 5 years old today.

In Episode 11 of #TSRP Mr. Spann embraces his inner nerd, talks about the push to make feature film “The Help” into a Hollywood blockbuster and about the state of quality Hip Hop in Detroit. And later in the show Spann addresses the Poverty Bus Tour spearheaded by Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornel West, the riots over in the UK, and Mr. Spann makes a trip back home to Chicago that was epic for reasons you might not expect.
