(Ep. 245) #TSRP “That Same Energy”

On episode 245 of #TSRP Mr. Spann is again joined by Mrs. Spann to talk about the news and topics of the day, and then we hop right In The News, as the Associated Press release findings from the 2018 Mid-Term Elections that showed in 5 states where Republicans got LESS votes than their Democratic counterparts, they were still able to keep control of state legislatures. Is this another example of gerrymandering run amok? In Michigan, the Attorney General has just banned the practice of orphanages denying prospective LGBT adoptive parents the chance to adopt. The German family that owns franchises like Krispy Kreme donuts and Panera Bread has released information that concludes that their ancestors were enthusiastic supporters of Adolph Hitler, and they plan to donate millions of dollars to make it right. But will this information affect whether or not you continue to visit their establishments again? And in yet ANOTHER update to the saga of Jussie Smollett, ALL charges against him have been dropped, and his records on the matter sealed? Is this vindication for him, or is this bigger than Nino Brown? Then we’re off to Blue Blazes as Cardi B has social media buzzing after admitting on Instagram that she used to drug and rob men while she was an exotic dancer. Is this yet another case of a rapper using criminal means to finance their career, is she only getting this scrutiny because she’s a woman, or is there a bit of hypocrisy in how we talk about it when we like the person involved? Wendy Williams has been hospitalized after an apparent relapse to her sobriety after her husband’s alleged mistress gives birth. Over in the UK the kids are having a hard time reading analog clocks in the school. So the school has opted to remove them, but isn’t school where you go to learn how to read them though? And two men in Macomb County Michigan hatched a plot to get a man free from paying Child Support, you won’t believe how far they were willing to take it. We take a break from Proud To Be American this week and get right into our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements, and then we close out the show. So kick it with BOTH of the Spanns getting that Real Talk, ALL THE TIME here on The Spann Report!

(Ep. 43) #BNCPod “Break The Bank, But At What Cost?”

The #BNCPod boys are back with some more brews, and more sports talk hot takes, and we have a special guest on the show with us tonight, as the homie Stacy drops in on the Beer N’ Chicken crew to give us some of his thoughts on the sports topics of the day. We hop right into it as Mike Trout re-signs with the Los Angeles Angels to the tune of… wait for it… $426.5 MILLION! Is the amount of money paid to these players making it harder for the fan base to root for and connect with them? We’ll break that whole topic down. The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament is going on as we speak, and every year, this tournament produces or introduces us to a player who’s having his major coming out party. From Cassius Winston at Michigan State to Ja Morant at Murray State, which of these players are we really going to see more of in the coming years? We then move to the hardwood as a fan paid nearly $7K to see LeBron James play against Giannis Antetokounmpo. Only thing is, neither one of them played in the game? It was a late season game where many NBA stars are becoming more and more accustomed to resting and sitting games out in preparation for the playoffs, but is the practice of resting these stars in these late season games a ripoff to the paying public? Also in NBA news, The Los Angeles Lakers are going to miss the NBA Playoffs for the 6th straight season. This is despite having LeBron James on the team, so the question has to be asked, who is most responsible for the Los Angeles Lakers not making the playoffs THIS season? And of course, we’ll all be wrapping up up our sports week with the Wing It portion of the show. So grab that 2 piece white, with mild sauce, and an Old Style brew, and kick it with your fellas tonight, right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 244) #TSRP “Shutting Up Is Absolutely Free”

On episode 244 of #TSRP Spann is back with from Jury Duty, and boy did that suck. What a colossal waste of time, so you know he’s got to tell us about that experience. Then we hop In The News, as a Chicago Police union is calling for an investigation into Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx who recused herself from the Jussie Smollett investigation. That saga continues to go on. Ex-felons in the state of Florida have had their voting rights restored after an amendment to their state constitution re-established their franchise. Great right? And ICE has made the biggest cocaine bust in 25 years just this month. But where this bust happened is not exactly where the current administration would like you focusing your attention to. We then move on to Blue Blazes, where Instagram comedian Jess Hilarious has been caught up in a social media firestorm after an anti-Sikh video she made while on an airplane, thinking that she was talking about Muslims went viral. First she doubled down, now she’s issuing apologies. Which part of it do you believe she really means? Singer Daniel Caesar has also found himself on the business end of a social media dragging after coming to the defense of white rapper Yes Julz who has been under heavy scrutiny as of late for her seemingly repeated penchant of attacking black women in her music, mostly while surrounded by black men. Caesar went on Instagram Live to back her up, but to proclaim that black people are always playing the role of victim. We’ll unpack this a bit tonight. And former head of the Democratic National Committee, Donna Brazile has landed a new political contributor gig on Fox News. She believes that she needs to give voice to the Democratic party to the largely Republican right wing leaning station. But are we well beyond that point now? Then we move on to Proud To Be An American, where a Virginia School Resource Officer was identified as part of white supremacist group Identity Evropa where he actively worked in recruiting other members. Color us surprised… Also in Missouri, State Rep Andrew McDaniel introduced a bill in the legislature to make it mandatory that all men in the state of legal age purchase an AR-15, apparently to make a point about government mandates. Yes, he’s that stupid, and he’s an elected official. And remember that story about the ex-felons in Florida who were given their rights to vote back by the passage of Amendment 4 to their state constitution. Well Republicans in Florida are seeking to yet again put obstacles in place to make it more difficult for them to exercise their voting rights. Which begs the question, at least for Spann, WHAT THE HELL IS #ADOS doing that’s different from what the Republicans are trying to do? And a woman in Connecticut had to resign her position at a public school district after her racist outburst and assault in a grocery store. Basically, we have a theme tonight, can you see it? LOL And of course we close out the show with our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. So y’all know what time it is, it’s time for Real Talk, ALL THE TIME right here on The Spann Report!

(Ep. 42) #BNCPod “Fan Jealousies”

On episode 42 of #BNCPod it’s ALL BASKETBALL tonight. And we get right into it with Josh Smith deciding to join Ice Cube’s Big 3 Basketball league, despite the Detroit Pistons still paying him to the tune of $5.3 Million dollars this season. Got to love those guaranteed contracts don’t you?! Then we come back to the tried and true argument over whether or not Michael Jordan is the GOAT in the sport of basketball. Robert Parish, former center for the great Boston Celtics team, and one year teammate of Michael Jordan’s Championship Chicago Bulls teams doesn’t think he is. He doesn’t even believe that Jordan is in the top 3! So we’ll unpack that until the bag is all the way empty and the clothes are in the hotel drawers! And finally, we examine the exchange between Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook, and Utah Jazz fan Shane Keisel, that led to the fan being banned for life from ever attending another Jazz game. We’ll talk about why the relationship with the players and some of the fans go beyond the game, and start to become downright hostile. And of course we wrap it all up with our Wing It portion of the show. So kick back, grab yourself one of Walt’s favorite Bud Light Oranges and some barbecue wings, and kick it with your boys. (Ep. 243) #TSRP “Affluent Action”

On episode 243 of #TSRP We get right In The Newsas the big story this week is the college admission scandal that has led to over 50 indictments. Included in those indictments are actresses Felicity Huffman, and Lori Loughlin. And in an update to the Jussie Smollett saga, the two brothers who participated in his alleged ruse, are now saying they were taking advantage of by someone they trusted. But were they though??? Then we’re off to Sexy Time, where a woman is said to have had such a reaction to the oral sex that she received, that it caused her to have a stroke! Do you want head like that? Then we’re off to Blue Blazes, as an armed great grandmother showed a would be robber she’s not the one to mess with, as she used her firearm to scare him into hiding in one the closets in her home until police arrived. A woman was angry with workers at a Burger King restaurant who apparently messed up her order by adding tomatoes, and her reaction was way over the top to put it mildly. Also, a woman who is seeking to take the stigma out of a woman having a period, chose a very unorthodox way of doing it. Then, we’re on to Proud To Be An American, as Boulder Colorado police pull their guns on a man who was cleaning his yard, and a white Texas teenage girl gets no jail time after falsely accusing 3 black men of raping her. We then get to wrapping it up with ourAssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. So let’s get right into it with the Real Talk, ALL THE TIME here on The Spann Report!

(Ep. 41) #BNCPod “Up In Smoke?”

On episode 41 of #BNCPod the fellas are back with more talk about and around the games. Today we’ll be talking about LeBron James, the greatest player of his generation is poised to miss the playoffs for the first time since the 04-05 NBA season? What will these NBA Playoffs look like without him in them, and could we be looking at LeBron’s stint with the Lakers the same way we look at Michael Jordan’s two years with the Washington Wizards? We then move on to the NFL as Antonio Brown has been dealt from the Pittsburgh Steelers, to the Oakland Raiders. Who got the better of this deal, and do the fellas believe that Brown will be a good fit in the Silver and Black? Finally, we talk about David Irving. Irving, the Dallas Cowboys Defensive Tackle was suspended by the league for his third violation of their substance abuse policy. Rather than give up the weed, he chose to give up his career in the most millennial of ways. He announced it on Instagram while smoking a joint! But while making his video, he also spoke about the drugs that the NFL allows for their players to take to deal with pain. Could Irving be smarter than his critics are giving him credit for? And finally we close out the show with Wing It segment, so grab yourself some hot wings, some bleu cheese, and a Blue Moon, and come kick it with your boys right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

On episode 242 of #TSRP we’re joined by Tennielle Clark, a personal development and lifestyle coach. We’ll get to know her, and find out what actually goes into becoming a life coach, and who are the prime candidates for some coaching! We then hop In The News, as Alex Trebeck has just announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Hopefully he can beat the odds and that terrible disease. R. Kelly is back in the news as he open up during an explosive interview with Gayle King on CBS about the current charges against him, and whether or not he actually does have a cult. But should that interview have ever happened in the first place? We then start wrapping it up with our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements.
