This was an episode that almost didn’t happen this week. With a combination of so much news, and with Spann being back at work, it was kind of hard to keep up with everything that’s been going on. Thank goodness for weekends though right? Because today we get episode 297 of #TSRP. And we’ve got a ton to get through, so he head right In The News, where to start the week, massive crowds were seen at vacation hot spots all over the country during the Memorial Day weekend. A Federal Judge just knocked down an attempt by Republicans to stop felons from regaining their rights to vote in Florida. The Federal Bureau of Prisons have denied former Detroit Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick early release. Donald Trump threatens to shut down social media after Twitter attached some fact checking to some of his tweets. Trump also vetoed a bill aimed at helping students have their student loans forgiven. And the Republican National Committee Chair, Rona McDaniel has been voting by mail for years, while currently suing the state of California for expanding the practice in their state.
We move on a bit to Blue Blazes where resident internet troll Azealia Banks has alleged that she’s slept with comedian Dave Chappelle, in what appears to be yet another sad attempt at attention grabbing. Forbes magazine is accusing Kylie and Kris Jenner of providing false financial documents to make it appear that Kylie Jenner was the youngest self made Billionaire. And was Faith Evans really arrested for putting hands on her husband Stevie J? We’ll discuss the ins and outs of that, or at least as much of it as we can.
Then it’s on to Proud To Be American, where Officer Derek Chauvin was finally arrested after days of unrest in the city of Minneapolis. The result of him putting a knee to the neck of George Floyd that ultimately killed him. The Mayor of St. Paul Minnesota, and the Chief of Police in Detroit both scold protesters who they suspect aren’t from the cities where the demonstrations are happening, for stirring up trouble and damaging property. George Floyd’s brother speaks to Donald Trump, or from the way he puts it, he was talked at by Donald Trump on a phone call with the President. And white man in Utah, attacked protesters there with a bow & arrow, then gets jumped by the protesters, but gets on the news, and blames two black men for beating him up.
We’ll run through all of that before we close out the show with our Champ of The Week Announcement like we always do. So let’s get to it, we got a lot to go over this week here with the Real Talk, ALL THE TIME on The Spann Report!
