We’re back again for another week of news, pop culture and politics. But before we do that, we get a few of Spann’s Random Thoughts from the past week, in addition to some Listener Feedback, before we get In The News, where first we have a breaking story of a man who’s been arrested after intentionally trying to infect others with the coronavirus. He was able to infect 22 people. A Virginia State Trooper has finally found himself out of a job after he appeared on a viral video gleefully threatening to assault a black motorist during a traffic stop. More colleges are making the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory for students seeking to come back to campus, are they going to far? The state of Michigan finds itself as a hotspot for COVID-19 infections in children. This comes as more and more parents are protesting against mask mandates and remote learning for their child across the state. And also in Michigan, a Beaumont Health System doctor says more than 99% of the hospitalized Covid patients in their care have yet to be vaccinated.
Then we move on to Blue Blazes, where Kara “Super Karen” Bell, a candidate for the Lake Travis School Board was arrested at a Nordstrom Rack store because of her refusal to wear a mask. Police body cam footage recorded the exchange that led to her arrest. Ted Nugent, a rock music musician, and huge Donald Trump supporter has revealed on a Facebook live video, that he had contracted COVID-19. This after proclaiming publicly numerous times that this was a “fake pandemic.” Life comes at you fast doesn’t it? A Florida couple planned to have a wedding at a beautiful and sprawling mansion. The problem for them, they didn’t own the mansion, nor did they have permission to be there. And Kellogg’s, the cereal maker plans to release a new cereal in celebration of Pride Month later this year, which has led to a some shameful, albeit predictable backlash.
And in Proud To Be American, Apple has signaled that they may be willing to allow the right wing social media app, Parler back into their app store. This comes after they banned the app due to the insurrection that happened on January 6th of this year. Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Green had to scrap plans for a new America First Caucus, after it received backlash not only from left wing and progressive circles, but from right wing politicians as well. Although we don’t think they did so for the same reasons. And in Arizona, Republicans are still spinning their wheels on The Big Lie that Donald Trump won the election, and are ordering yet another recount of the ballots in their state.
Finally, we wrap everything up with our Champ of The Week announcement, and we get on up outta here. So let’s get to it fam, with the Real Talk, ALL THE TIME right here this week on The Spann Report!
