Back at it this week here on The Spann Report, and we get things kicked off with some Listener Feedback before we get to the business happening In The News. Actor and singer Jussie Smollett was found guilty on 5 out of 6 charges stemming from his hate crime hoax in Chicago. New charges could be pending against the parents of the Oxford school shooter. The US Supreme Court will allow challenges to Texas’ new abortion law, but will allow for it to stand while undergoing challenges. And in Breaking News, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has presented a proposal that may turn the new Texas abortion law on it’s head.
Then it’s on to Blue Blazes, where new Amazon TV show Harlem has come under fire on social media for a 45 second scene in a black barbershop on the show. Was the scene a realistic depiction of the “black barbershop” experience, or is this just another convoluted effort by the man to bring the black man and his image down? And why in the year of our Lord was Nancy Reagan of all people trending on Twitter this past week? If you’re not active on Twitter, the answer will surprise you. And in another example of people just showing how much this country has slid, a woman went to a school board meeting to serenade the board with her anti-vaxx, anti-mask mandate Christmas carol.
We move on to Fu*k Around & Find Out where the New York Times wrote a piece questioning whether or not it’s appropriate to troll, and mock the deaths of vocal COVID deniers. Something we do with this very segment, so let’s discuss it.
And in Proud To Be American, we find yet another black family have had their home value woefully under appraised. This time, to the tune of nearly $500K! Trevian Kutti, a publicist linked to Kanye West, and a big time Trump supporter was revealed to have harassed a Georgia poll worker in an effort to get them to confess to participating in election fraud two days before the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th of this year. And Kentucky Senator, Rand Paul sent a strongly worded letter to President Joe Biden in an effort to secure relief funds for his state after tornadoes cause major damage across the state. Ironically, he’s voted against this kind of funding when the relief was heading someplace else.
And then we close the show like always with our Champ of The Week announcement. So let’s get to it fam, with the Real Talk, ALL THE TIME, right here on The Spann Report!
