(Ep. 53) #BNCPod “Draft Night”

powered by Crowdcast

Tonight on episode 53 of #BNCPod we’re getting it cracking with the first ever annual Beer N’ Chicken Podcast Fantasy Football League Draft! Shout out to the 8 other folks who are joining Spann and Cliff to get this thing rolling! But before we get to the draft shenanigans, we start out with our takes on the sports news of the week. We start with basketball ironically as ESPN commentator Max Kellerman says that Kobe Bryant never had a shot at the Throne of basketball while teammates with Shaq. Do we agree?

Then we hop into football as, Andrew Luck, now the FORMER starting Quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts deciding to retire during the last week of pre-season football. Colts fans were NOT happy about it, and booed the announcement at the Colts last pre-season game. But was their ire a bit unfair to a man who has sacrificed so much of himself to play the game?

Also, Rob Gronkowski has spoken up about his feelings about the game and his decision to walk away from it, are we at a point where many of the star players are feeling like in order to have a life after football, they may have to leave the game sooner than they’d like to? Will we see more top tier players retire during their prime? The fellas will ponder that thought right before we get to THE DRAFT!

Pull up a brew and some some lemon pepper wings and kick it with the fellas tonight right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 52) #BNCPod “Fantasy Football Or Nah?”

powered by Crowdcast

Beer N’ Chicken is back after the Spanniversary break for some sports podcast shenanigans. We start the show catching up with the fellas to find out what they’ve been up to the past couple of weeks. Then we get to the nitty gritty, as we talk about the fellas starting to review the Netflix series Last Chance U after a request put in from the fans of the show. And also, will there be a Beer N’ Chicken Podcast Fantasy Football League? We’ll find out. Also, speaking of Netflix, we find ourselves talking about baseball and steroids with Screwball. Then we get talking about this new Jay Z joint venture with the NFL and the fallout coming from it. Is this a good move or did Jay Z just sell Colin Kaepernick out, and throw the movement under the bus?

Then y’all know we’ll close it out like we normally do. We got some hot takes with our Winging It segment to leave you with. So pull up a chair and get down with us while you chomping down on one of those new Popeyes Spicy Chicken Sandwiches and shoot the breeze right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 51) #BNCPod “Show Me The Money!”

powered by Crowdcast

On episode 51 of #BNCPod we get ready for some football, as camps are opening up to get geared up for the coming year, word has just broke that Tom Brady will be signing an extension to his current deal that will pay him $23 Million for the coming year? Is this a thank you and going away gift, or is this really the current value of a 40 year old QB going into his 19th season?

Marshawn Lynch is catching some heat after an altercation with a Football Mom, who objected to his use of curse words while coaching her son. He asked if there was a man with her as he addressed the situation, which have a lot of people wondering if it was sexist of Lynch to present that question. We’ll go back and forth on this to be sure.

The NBA season is also slowly creeping up on us, with many of the major free agents having found new homes, and other key players having been traded. One player still looking for a home is Carmelo Anthony. Some folks believe that Carmelo is too good a player to be left out this season, and that a team should pick him up so that he can also get a farewell tour across the league much like Dwayne Wade and Dirk Nowitzki enjoyed last season. What do the guys think about this? Hell, what do YOU think about this?

Also in the NBA, LeBron James has been catching some flack about how involved he is at his son’s basketball games. Some have accused him of trying to take the spotlight away from his son, others say that he’s just an excited dad enjoying watching his son play. Are we really about to start comparing LeBron James to the likes of a LaVar Ball?

And finally before we get to Wing It, we’ll talk about some of the worst contracts in NBA history, who got them, and how they were able to fleece the league. So let’s get to it. Pull up a Po’Boy and a Purple Haze and kick it with your boys right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 50) #BNCPod “Is Nothing Sacred?”

powered by Crowdcast

The Beer N’ Chicken fellas are here with the 50th episode! Dig that, so in celebration, these fools got to eat 50 chicken fingers a piece. Nah, probably not, but we do got some sports to talk about. And we get things kicked off talking boxing as former welterweight champion Pernell Whitaker passed away this past week. We reminisce on what some like to call a golden age of boxing. Then we move on to baseball as players have been inducted into Cooperstown this past week. And while we’re thinking about baseball. We get to talking about some of the business of the game too, as MLB has promised that advertisements will be put on uniforms within the next three years.

Then Big Baller Brand, is it still a thing? After much hype when the brand was launched, items from the brand have been sold lately at garage sale prices. And of course, we wrap things up with our Wing It segment. So we’ll get right to it, just with wings tonight right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 49) #BNCPod “Does Houston Have Enough Balls?”

The Fellas are back with episode 49 of #BNCPod and since last week there has been more player movement during the NBA off-season, as Russell Westbrook has been moved from the only team he’s ever known during his NBA career. The Oklahoma City Thunder moved their long time star to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Chris Paul. And one has to wonder what this move may mean for both of their careers. Will Chris Paul stay in OKC? Will Russell, and James Harden get along since James Harden is now an MVP and not the Sixth Man on the squad the last time these two were teammates? And what does Westbrook being traded from OKC mean for other small market franchises? Will they ever be able to attract superstar talent that’s willing to stay the way Westbrook stayed in OKC? It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

And just when you thought you were going to be able to snag that snazzy new Lebron James #6 Lakers jersey, a snag has put a damper on those plans as Nike says they stand to lose tens of millions of dollars if the Lakers star gives up the number for new teammate Anthony Davis. Could this be an instance of Nike having too much influence, or is this just LeBron being a good teammate for Nike? We’ll be discussing all of that and of course, you know the fellas will Wing It tonight. So kick back with a two piece, a brew, and put your feet up, and chill out with your boys right here at The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 48) #BNCPod “WNBA: You Watching Or Naw?”

On episode 48 of #BNCPod the fellas are joined by an avid listener of the show to kick it how we normally do. NBA Free Agency has been moving at a frantic pace. And we just got word that the LA Clippers have acquired Paul George via trade, and also have come to an agreement with the last big prize of this year’s free agency sweepstakes, Kawhi Leonard. The move has caught the entire league by surprise. But what does Paul George being moved to the Clippers mean for the lone star left in OKC, Russell Westbrook? And is this proof that Russ isn’t a good teammate as some have said? We’ll discuss.

Also now that the NBA season is over, the WNBA season is in full swing as the ladies hit the hardwood. But recent rumblings about the amount of money the ladies of the WNBA make in comparison to their NBA counterparts have a lot of folks wondering whether or not it’s fair what the WNBA is paying it’s players. Especially considering the fact that many of them have to take additional jobs overseas to fully support themselves as professional basketball players.

We’ll go through all of that, and of course you know we’ll be signing off with our Wing It portion of the show. So grab yourself a KFC Chicken and Cheeto sammich, and a Bud Light Orange, and come kick it with the fam right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 47) #BNCPod “Kyrie Using The Donald Trump Method”

On episode 47 of #BNCPod the fellas do a little bit of recapping their feelings about the NBA Finals with the Toronto Raptors taking their first ever championship over the Golden State Warriors. Then they move on to the NBA Awards show and debate as to whether the right guys won the right award, and does anybody really watch this awards show? And at the end of every NBA Season, the free agency speculation begins, what guys are going where? Is Kevin Durant leaving The Town? Will Kwahi Leonard stay in Toronto after giving that team a championship? It’s all in the air, and we’ll talk about who we think is going where. And of course, like we do every show, We’ll Wing It to close it out. It’s been a couple weeks, but the fellas are back at it. So grab you a 2 piece and a biscuit, and kick it with the fellas right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 46) #BNCPod “The Legend of Kawhi”

It’s been a long time, we shouldn’t have left you, without a strong pod to beef to. (I mean I would have said argue to, but that wouldn’t have fit.) What’s going on family, welcome to episode 46 of The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast, with the homies Spann and Cliff bringing you some sports hot take shenanigans. It’s been a while so your boys will be doing some catching up, and then we hop into some of the sports hot topics of the moment.

Of course you know we’ll be diving into these NBA Finals. A Finals series that at the time of this recording has the Toronto Raptors leading 3-1, and on the cusp of the first ever NBA Championship in franchise history after 24 years of existence. Shout out to everybody who remembers an NBA with no Canadian teams. But with these NBA Finals there has been a little drama. Outside of whether or not Kevin Durant will make a comeback by game 5, and will it be enough, Warriors minority owner Mark Stevens is being pressured to sell his stake in the team after pushing Raptors Point Guard Kyle Lowry, while making a play on the ball out of bounds. So the questions we’ll be asking is, should he be forced to sell his stake in the team, and also the re-emerging discussion about fan interaction with players during, and surrounding the games.

Speaking of owners. Warriors Forward Draymond Green has been making waves after an appearance on the HBO show The Shop hosted by LeBron James, where he spoke about his being uncomfortable with the term “owner” being used in league that consist mostly of black players. One owner in particular, the Dallas Maverick’s Mark Cuban has taken exception to the comparison, and has called on Draymond Green to apologize. But should he?

As Kwahi Leonard has this Raptors team on the verge of taking the chip, we’re learning more and more about this dude as a person. You’re seeing him do more post game interviews, you’re hearing stories about him while he was a college player at San Diego State. He’s starting to become an urban legend right before our eyes. But two questions remain, had LeBron James decided to stay in the East, do we get to see Kawhi flourish in these NBA Finals? And secondly is it Kawhi, not Kevin Durant who’s next up as the best player in the world? We’ll get into those topics and of course, you know ya boys have to finish it off with our Wing It portion of the show. So kick back, relax, get yourself a Four Loko, and a 2 piece white from one of your favorite fish and chicken joint, and kick it with your boys right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!
