(Episode 234) #TSRP “8 Years In”

Yooooo! It’s the 8th Anniversary of The Spann Report! On January 8th of 2011, the very first episode of #TSRP was uploaded into Podomatic, and ya man Spann dipped his feet into these podcasting waters, and hasn’t looked back! So it would be apropos if we do a little reflecting on how far we’ve come along the way. From Spann starting the podcast with a laptop and a headset, and a teleprompter program, and audacity crashing on him all the time. To doing weekly live shows with no script, speaking to the issues of the day, and expanding on that, and producing more shows on to complement The Spann Report, and hopefully grow even more. After we get the warm and fuzzies out of the way, it’s time to get back to the business of what we do. And we hop In The News, as the partial government continues, government employees are working without being paid. And TSA screeners are calling in sick to work because of it. Ellen DeGeneres is catching heat for supporting Kevin Hart, and lobbying to get him to host the Oscars. Michigan Representative, Rashida Tlaib is under fire for referring to Donald Trump as a MFer. And an assaulted McDonald’s worker finally speaks out about the fight that she had with a customer over a straw that went viral. Then we’re off to Blue Blazes, as it seems that Madonna may have been a bit unhappy with her backside, but were injections really the answer? People are really trying to make re-usable toilet paper a thing. Yes REALLY. Kevin Spacey is in court to face charges that he groped a teenage bus boy, and did Erica Mena, and Safaree Samuels secretly get married already? And Birdman, and Toni Braxton called it quits on their engagement. We should all be able to breath again now that that craziness is over. Then it’s time for Proud To Be An American, where we find one of those folks we hoped we left behind in 2018, a Black Republican getting on national TV to suggest that those on public assistance aren’t looking for jobs anymore, they’re looking for porn. And a Manhattan judge has just ruled that it’s perfectly legal to throw Trump supporters out of bars. But is this the right thing to do? And of course, we wrap up the show with our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. Soo much to get into and cover, and that’s exactly what we’ll be doing on episode 234 of The Spann Report!

(Ep. 33) #BNCPod “About James Harden…”

The #BNCPod boys are back for the 2019 year ready to get right back to the ratchet sports talk banter you’ve come to know and love. We start this year off talking football. We give our predictions on how the NFL Playoffs will play out. Then we get to talking about The College Football Playoffs. Most of this college football’s bowl season is done, and we’re about to witness yet another Alabama Vs. Clemson National Championship game. Spann brings it up to the fellas that he believes the CFP should be expanded to at at least 6 teams, or at most 8 teams, to better judge who is the National Champion. We’ll see how that conversation plays out. Sticking with football, Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers has been making headlines over the course of the last week after he was benched by Mike Tomlin for not showing up for a team walkthrough the day before the game. Brown has said he want’s to be traded. But are these antics worth the trade to whatever team he may end up going to? Walt want’s to talk about it, so we’ll discuss. And finally, James Harden, has been on a tear these last few weeks, averaging close to 40 PPG in the last 10 games. Talk on ESPN has been speculating on whether or not Harden not only is the greatest offensive player in the game today, but some have been going so far as to say James Harden is the greatest offensive player of all time. Like for real, people are having this discussion. And we’re going to have it too, as Cliff brings right to the show. And of course, the fellas will be mouthing off uninterrupted during our Winging It segment. So sit back with your Chicken Parmesan, and a cold bottle of Peroni and chill with your boys right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podacast!

The NFL’s waffling on the decision to ban kneeling in football games. And the uproar that Boogie Cousins caused when he decided to join the Golden State Warriors team that had just won another NBA Championship. (Ep. 232) #TSRP “Too Much Dip On Ya Chip”

On the final episode of #TSRP for 2019 we got a lot to cover. We start the show with some listener feedback as we got a few emails after the last episode concerning Kevin Hart debacle. We then hop In The News, as The Betsy DeVos Department of Education cancels over $150 Million in student loan debt after being sued for delays. Male birth control is on the horizon, and it’s a shoulder rub away. A report came out from the New York Times that during the 2016 Presidential election, that Russian operatives targeted Black voters in an effort to dissuade them from voting. And the government is currently shut down after Donald Trump refused to sign a funding bill, because it didn’t include monies for the border wall he said Mexico would be paying for. Then, we’re off to Blue Blazes, with Chris Rock getting dragged to all hell after video resurfaced of him defending Louis CK’s use of the word “Nigger.” Millennials in China are sending nude pictures of themselves as collateral to secure loans, and singer Jacqueese is catching the wrath of old school R&B heads after he proclaimed himself, King Of R&B. The Special Hotep Unit makes a return as Umar Johnson comes out from the shadows to attack Tyler Perry for the ways he spends his money. Namely the paying off of Christmas layaways of poorer families. Then, it’s off to Proud To Be American where a bank called the police on a black man for trying to cash his paycheck. A jury acquits a man who blasted Fu*k The Police right in front of the police. A bill in the Michigan Senate is seeking to end childhood marriage in the state, and in Huntington Woods Michigan, disgruntled parents are seeking to put an end to Drag Queen Story Time at the library because they think the practice is “perverse.” We’ll be covering all of that and of we’ll have our Annual AssHat of The Year Class Graduation, and ourChamps of The Year announcements. Lots to get into, so let’s get right to it right here and right now on The Spann Report!

(Ep. 7) #BWPod “The Last Dragon of Widows”

Mr. and Mrs. Spann are back with episode 7 of #BWPod and we’re reviewing 2 movies, 1 old, and 1 new on tonight’s episode. We start the show with the oldie but goodie, The Last Dragon. The hood, and cult classic film starring Taimak, Vanity, and Julius Carry. This was actually the first time that Mrs. Spann had seen this movie, and Mr. Spann of course saw this as a kid, so it’ll be interesting to see how differently they see this movie given the time since it was released, and how it’s aged over the years, and how much of the rave around this film is simply from a nostalgic place. We then transition to another movie that we saw over the weekend, and that’s Widows. This movie stars Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, and Brian Tyree Henry, a story about a set of women who are the wives of a gang of thieves. The thieves all lose their lives after a job goes bad, and the local gangster, who is also running for city council, that they stole the money from, is now coming after the wives to get his money back. Can the women pull off a heist of their own to save their own lives? We’ll find out that, and tell you guys how much we enjoyed the film. So chill out with us as we discuss these cinematic experiences right here on The BaeWatch Podcast!

******SPOILER ALERT!!!******

We discuss plenty of crucial plot points in these films, we don’t edit ourselves for the sake of the conversation. If you haven’t seen any of the films that we are discussing on this episode, please wait until after you’ve seen the film before listening. For those of you who don’t care about spoilers, HIT THAT PLAY BUTTON!

(Ep. 231) #TSRP “You See That Hill, I’m Going To Die There”

On Episode 231 of #TSRP We don’t have many segments, in fact, we’ve got one topic to talk about, and that’s Kevin Hart, and the reason why he’s no longer hosting the Oscars. But this particular episode isn’t just about Kevin Hart, it’s about the culture surrounding us that makes us believe that Kevin Hart, and his non-apology apology is OK, and that he did absolutely nothing wrong, and will stand up loud and wrong defending homophobia, and bigotry, while believe that we can’t be participants in said homophobia and bigotry. Whole lot of preaching going onto say the least on episode 231 of The Spann Report!

(Ep. 31) #BNCPod “Bullsh*t”

The #BNCPod boys are back with episode 31 of the show. We kick things off catching up with each other after a week of doing the work and family things, and then we get right into the show. Walt gets things kicked off with talk of Carmelo Anthony, as LeBron states that he would love to have Melo join him on the Lakers. Lakers brass are mum on bringing Melo into the fold, but is this a good fit for that team? We’ll discuss. Cliff brings us the story of Brandon Browner, a former NFL player who was just sentenced to 8 years in prison for attempted murder for trying to kill an ex- girlfriend. Another unfortunate story of an NFL player involved in domestic violence. And Spann brings us back to the basketball, as the Chicago Bulls have fired their head coach, Fred Hoiberg after 3 1/2 seasons. Although the Bulls have said that Jim Boylan will be their coach going forward, who do the fellas think would actually be a good fit for that team to get back at least to the Tim Thibideau days of consistent playoff appearances, and legitimate championship contention? We’ll discuss all of this and of course, we’ll “Wing It” to close the show. So pull up your collard green and sweet potato stuffed Chicken and MGD, and kick it with your boys right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 230) #TSRP “Cheaper To Keep Her… Or Him Too!”

On episode 230 of #TSRP Spann wastes no time, and just dives right In The News, as Michigan Senators in the state legislature vote to gut minimum wage hikes, and paid sick leave reforms that the voters of Michigan wanted in a lame duck session. In North Carolina, voter fraud has become a huge deal, but the fraud is coming from the candidate of the party who made such a big fuss about it. And former Vice President Joe Biden may have unofficially thrown his hat into the 2020 Presidential race by declaring that he’s the most qualified for the position. But is he the candidate the voters want? Then we’re off to Blue Blazes, as Payless Shoe Store pulled off the finesse of the year by opening up a luxury shoe store, but did they though??? Joy Behar was ready to put young whipper snapper Meghan McCain in her place after a very tense exchange during a taping of The View. And a woman in Troy Michigan did damn near everything she could to get shot by the police, and they still wouldn’t do it. They let her eat her own earrings though. Then it’s Sexy Time, but not the kind you’re thinking. Those remote control butt plugs seem like a great idea, that is until somebody gets to controlling that bad boy without your knowledge. And it’s been quite a while since it was it’s own segment, but Cheaper To Keep Her makes it’s return as Toni Braxton raised some eyebrows after saying “Men are the new bitches…” referring to the alimony that she has to pay to her ex-husband, Keri Lewis of the R&B group, Mint Condition. Tyrese is feeling the financial squeeze from an ex too, as his ex-wife says her job is “living life.” We get patriotic with Proud To Be An American, as former Utah Congresswoman Mia Love got her black wake up call after losing her bid for re-election. She even had some choice words for the dude currently occupying the White House right now. And Republicans in both Michigan and Wisconsin legislatures are attempting to gut the powers of incoming Governors and Attorney Generals to blunt the fact that they lost control of both of those positions in both states. And of course, we’ve got our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. So we got lots to get into tonight, so lets knock it all out tonight right here on The Spann Report!
