Bill Cosby

(Episode 217) “It’s Been A Long Time”

On episode 217 of #TSRP Spann is back after a much needed break, and getting his podcast chakras in order. We start the show with Spann reflecting a little bit about his time away from the mic, and some of the things he learned about himself while he was away, but then we get right into the silliness as Spann has a few Random Thoughts to get off of his mind. We hop In The News and reflect a bit on the life of The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, and what she meant not only to music, but to the city of Detroit, and a crazy revelation in how Spann found out about how the Queen of Soul, got that name. Voter suppression is rearing it’s ugly head again, this time in Georgia, as Republicans in the state seek to shut down as many as nine polling places in a majority black county leading up to the mid term elections this coming November. And Donald Trump finds himself surrounded by convicted felons as his former campaign manager, Paul Manafort was just found guilty of 8 counts of fraud. Trump’s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen has also decided to flip and plead guilty to the Feds for 8 counts campaign finance violations, and says he did so at the direction of Donald Trump. 8 obviously isn’t Trump’s lucky number. Then it’s on to Blue Blazes, as apparently you can get your Viagra fix on Detroit without a prescription, and you’ll never guess where you can get it. R. Kelly is being sued by property managers in the Atlanta area for destroying two rental properties to the tune of over $200,000 worth of damage. And Bill Cosby thinks that having to register as a sex offender will “damage his reputation.” It’s too late for that one there buddy. And in Proud To Be An American, Alex Jones has been banned of most of the more popular social media websites. Is this an infringement on his free speech, or is this something that all of these platforms waiting far too long to do? In Clearwater FL, Michael Drejka, the man who invoked a “Stand Your Ground” defense after shooting a man in the chest over an argument over a parking spot was finally arrested and charged in the murder of Markeis McGlockton. Will this be a replay of what happened with Trayvon Martin, or will the video of the actual killing make a difference in this case? And as promised back when she was fired from her White House post, Omarosa Manigault-Newman is out peddling her new book about what she witnessed in the White House while working there. And in her press run, many people are contemplating whether or not black people will accept her back into the community after her dogged support of Donald Trump, will we? And of course, before we close the show, we’ve got our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. It’s been a long time indeed, and we got a lot to get into, but it’s good to be back and we’re doing it. So get posted up and enjoy the show this week on The Spann Report!

Then we’ll dive into Blue Blazes, as Camille Cosby shows herself to definitely be a ride or die wife, but at what cost? Kanye West’s music has been banned by one Detroit radio station, are there more to follow? Drake has been taking a lot of Ls this week as his Raptors are being handled by the Cavs in the NBA Playoffs, but Rihanna has gone on record to say that they are no longer friends. Will self professed good guys start losing their shit? And, In The News, Comcast has stepped forward on their way to penalizing cord cutters with slower internet speeds if their customers won’t buy TV packages. Diamond & Silk may have found themselves supporting a white nationalist to the tune of about $7000. And of course later in the show, we’ve got our AssHat & Champ Of The Week announcements. On episode 204 of #TSRP Spann welcomes back long time friend of the show writer Shane Paul Neil. Back after the internet just refused to let us be great last weekend. So we’ll get back to what we were initially supposed to do, which was to get to know Shane, and learn about his newest foray into podcasting with the Shane Paul Neil Writes Podcast. We then get into the foolishness that was this past week, as NRA supporters are noW shooting up their Yeti Coolers because Yeti has decided to disassociate their brand with the NRA. Yes, you read that right. Tom Joyner, has finally decided that he will no longer play R. Kelly music on his radio show, this being his last year on the radio. We then dive into the news, as a Black woman is arrested at the Waffle House. Her crime? She asked for plasticware. Another group of Black women had the police called on them at the golf course and were asked to leave because, they were playing the game too slow. And Kanye West is back out here on these Twitter streets, and he’s managed to piss off a gang of his fans, and have folks openly wondering if there are some mental health issues really going on with Kanye, OR is this just his way of promoting the new music he has coming out by getting people to talk about him. All of that, with some listener feedback and of course, we’ve got our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. We’ve got a lot of ground to cover so let’s get to it this week on The Spann Report!

The Bill Cosby Trial ended in a mistrial, but how close was he to really being put away? Officer Geronimo Yanez was found not guilty on all counts in relation to the killing of Philando Castile, and even more outrage erupted after dash cam video was released of the killing. (How in the hell did this jury get this sooo got damn wrong?) A Trump supporter walks into a Starbucks, sounds like the start of a joke right? Well when you hear the story, you’ll see why that’s exactly what the hell it is. And later in the show, we meet a real life Dennis The Menace in our “Blue Blazes” segment. All of that and more on this episode of The Spann Report!

A homicidal nurse has been killing patients she deemed “mean,” and a Chicago bar is in the news for it’s alleged racist dress code. And later in the show, we’ll talk about why people spend so much time telling others how to spend their money. Snoop Dogg isn’t happy with the way Bill Cosby has been treated in comparison to Bill O’Reilly, does he have a point or nah? Internet broadcaster Alex Jones is in the news because of a custody battle with his ex-wife. He purports his InfoWars outfit to be a legitimate source for news, but his own lawyers may have undermined that in one fell swoop. The woman that Stephen “Facebook Killer” Stevens blamed for killing 74 yearr old Robert Goodwin Sr. has been inundated with harassment online since his infamous video made national news. And later in the show, we’ll discuss the foolishness that is Sarah Palin in light of the Bill O’Reilly sexual harassment scandal. And later in the show we discuss Nate Parker, and the sexual assault he’s accused of from 1999 while a college student at Penn State University, and what it could mean for him, his career, and upcoming “Birth Of A Nation” film.
