Colin Kaepernick

(Ep. 39) #BNCPod “Is The Boycott Over?

On episode 39 of #BNCPod the fellas are back with the sports talk shenanigans. We start out the show with our thoughts on the NBA All-Star weekend festivities. Did the game live up to the hype? Is it time to do away with the skills competition, and how long can the dunk contest survive without the stars putting their hats in the ring? We stay in the basketball lane a little longer as Scottie Pippen was on ESPN and he made some eyebrow raising comments about LeBron’s clutch factor? Is there any truth to what Scottie Pippen is saying, or could Scottie be out to lunch on this one? And later in the show, we switch gears to the gridiron, as news broke earlier in the week, that the NFL had reached a settlement agreement with Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid concerning alleged collusion by their teams to keep Colin Kaepernick out of the NFL. Has the NFL just essentially admitted that they DID in fact collude to keep him out of the league without saying so? And now that this issue has reached a settlement, will Colin Kaepernick supporters begin watching the game of NFL football again? We’ll discuss these topics, and of course, we’re going to Wing It on out of here with out hot takes for the week. So pull up a Berry Weiss, and some Honey Barbecue Wings and kick it with the fellas right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Ep. 240) #TSRP “Congratulations, You Played Yourself”

On episode 240 of #TSRP we get back to our regularly scheduled program after a very special episode of The Special Hotep Unit. Today we talk a little bit about Valentine’s Day as the Spann’s went to see Toni Braxton, and SWV at the Fox Theater in Detroit, and of course Detroit antics ensued. We then get the show rolling by hopping In The News, as reports of suspects being arrested in the Jussie Smollett assault case hit the news, and then right after that, those suspects were released. But one has to wonder why this story is playing the way it is in certain segments of the black community. Former Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke was assaulted in Prison this week, and his wife calls a news conference to demand his safety. We then roll over to Blue Blazes, as video in an elevator shows Lil Bow Wow acting very aggressively towards his girlfriend before the infamous fight that led to the mugshot of his face being scratched up. An Indian man is suing his parents for giving birth to him WITHOUT HIS CONSENT??? HUH??? And in Southfield Michigan, the city council is voting on whether or not is should be legal for the existence of a sex doll brothel within their city limits. Then it’s off to Proud To Be An American, as the legislators in Arizona are considering measures to have porn considered a public health crisis. Yes, you read that right, Porn a public health crisis. In Colorado, a sports apparel store is going out of business, after the owner of that store refused to sell Nike products because of their endorsement deal with Colin Kaepernick. And Kamala Harris appeared on The Breakfast Club this past week, and made eye brows raise all over the country over her admission to smoking weed, and the kinds of music she listens too. Many have compared her appearance to Hillary Clinton’s and accused her of “pandering” to the black community. Even Fox News, and Megan McCain hopped in on the madness. But was it what they were really making it out to be? And then we round everything out with our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. So we got quite a bit to get to as get rolling with episode 240 of The Spann Report!

(Episode 225) #TSRP “He Had Me At Larry Hoover”

On episode 225 of #TSRP we kick off the show with some listener feedback, and then we head right In The News, as a grisly discovery was made in a Detroit area funeral home. And a verdict was made in the case of Jeffery Ziegler, the Rochester Hills man who fired his rifle at a young black boy who knocked on his door asking for directions. And a Federal judge has thrown out a defamation lawsuit by Stormy Daniels against Donald Trump. We move on really quickly to Sexy Time, as a woman has taken a whole new meaning to merging sex and food, like LITERALLY. Then it’s off to Blue Blazes where a South Carolina man shoots his cousin over eating his potato chips. A man is run over by a lawnmower while he attempts to kill his son with a chainsaw. Yes, you read that right. And Bill Cosby just might have had Cheaper To Keep Her playing in his head when it’s found out that Camille Cosby drained one of his “secret” accounts to cover expenses at home. And in Proud to Be An American, a white woman calls the police on a black man babysitting two white children. An Arkansas sheriff forces inmates to wear Nike T-Shirts to “mock” Colin Kaepernick. And a St. Louis woman blocks a black man from entering his apartment. We’ve got all of that and of course, our AssHat & Champ of The Week. So kick it with you boy Spann tonight right here on The Spann Report!

(Ep. 23) #BNCPod “Mayhem In Minnesota”

The #BNCPod boys are back with episode 23, and we’re hopping right back into the drama of the Minnesota Timberwolves as Jimmy Butler reportedly came at the necks of Andrew Wiggins, Karl Anthony-Towns, and Head Coach and GM Tom Thibideau after a trade that would have sent him to the Miami Heat fell through. It’s obvious that Jimmy wants out of Minnesota, but is he overestimating his value? We’ll talk about that and the reactions that are coming from across the league about this situation from the likes of Paul George, and former Timberwolf, Kevin Garnett. And later in the show, the San Francisco 49ers are finding themselves apologizing after neglecting to include Colin Kaepernick in a photo gallery filled with highlights against the Green Bay Packers. Was this apology even needed, or was this really just a way to get in front of the bullshit before people got on them about it. And of course, all three guys got something to Wing It on. So lets get right to it, with Beer, Chicken, and sports talk tonight on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Episode 220) “Frogs Are Gay Meets Negro Bed Wench”

On episode 220 of #TSRP Spann has some random thoughts to get off of his mind, right before he gets into some listener feedback, as a few listeners wrote in to let him know they weren’t happy at all with what he said on the last episode. We then hop In The News, as a Dallas Police Officer is under scrutiny after shooting a man in his home. Her story is, she thought she was at her own apartment, but many people aren’t buying it. Former Cosby Show actor, Geoffry Owens, who was recently spotted working at Trader Joe’s says the recent Cosby scandal that saw comedian Bill Cosby convicted of sexual assault, was a driving force in him seeking additional employment. Ford Motor Company throws their hat in the NFL Protest debate, as they publicly come out in support of the players stance of demonstrating against police brutality. We then go to Blue Blazes, where a festival vendor managed to convince people to buy $38 Hot Dog Water, like seriously, $38 for the stuff. One of the people accused of withholding GoFundMe funds to a homeless man has since been arrested, we’ll dive into why. Lou Dobbs went on the air of the Fox Business Channel to call out George W. Bush as a ‘radical liberal.’ Yeah, you read that right the first time. And Twitter after dragging ass, FINALLY banned Alex Jones from their platform, joining the likes of Facebook, YouTube, Apple, and other social media mediums. Which leads us to The Special Hotep Unit, as Captain Tariq Nasheed was recently doing an interview to promote his newest fauxtrumentary, and seems to have much more of a connection to the likes of Alex Jones, than maybe he or his followers are willing to admit. Then it’s off to Proud To Be An American, where an Ohio School Resource officer thought it would be a good idea to awaken a sleeping student, by using a taser on them. In Georgia, a charter school has opted to bring back the practice of paddling their students. And in a break from the norm, a black police organization has decided to step out and support Colin Kaepernick after the National Association of Police Organizations called for boycotts of Nike after the announcement of their 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign would feature the embattled former 49ers Quarterback. And of course, we’ve got our AssHat & Champ of The Week acknowledgements as well. It’s a lot yall! So lets get to it right here on The Spann Report!

(Ep. 19) #BNCPod “We’ll Show Them!”

The Beer N’ Chicken boys are back after a long hiatus to get to what we do most. Eat, drink, and talk shit. This week all three host retuns as Walt wants to get into LeBron James show on HBO, The Shop. Football season is back, and with it comes the controversy that is NFL Players kneeling during the National Anthem being played. Which brings Colin Kaepernick back into the news as Nike has opted to make him the face of the 30th anniversary of their “Just Do It” campaign. Will this backfire in Nike’s face, or has the tide began to turn on how people, and corporations feel about the stance that Kaepernick took by kneeling. And the homie Cliff wants to talk about the fact that the NFL won’t have any sort of Nation Anthem policy in place at all for the 2018 season. So they are right back where they started. And of course, the fellas will “Wing It” tonight. So kick back, drink a brew and hang out with the fellas right here on The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!

(Episode 219) “Kanye Almost Got Me”

On episode 219 of #TSRP Spann is back on the mic, and we hop straight In The News, as California has decided to do away with the bail system for suspects who are awaiting trail. Will this level the playing field in a meaningful way when it comes to the criminal justice system? Detroit Public Schools were closed due to lead and copper concerns with the schools drinking waters. How much of that problem could also be attributed to the surrounding areas of those schools? And a Dallas police officer was actually found guilty in the murder of 15 year old Jordan Edwards. We then move on to Blue Blazes, as a Minnesota House Candidate raises eyebrows in a campaign ad, as he refers to himself as a nigger. Kanye West went on WGCI in Chicago and apologized for his “slavery was a choice” comments while on TMZ earlier in the year. Or did he? And in an update from a story we covered last week, a judge has ordered that monies raised in a GoFundMe campaign be turned over to the homeless man the fundraiser was for, by the people who appointed themselves stewards of the cash, after questions had been raised about if they were misappropriating those funds. In Proud To Be An American news, Donald Trump orders his Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo to investigate supposed mass killings of white farmers in South Africa, after watching a segment of Tucker Carlson’s show. A Pennsylvania Republican official, resigns her position after she called NFL players who protest during the national anthem, “baboons.” And during Aretha Franklin’s funeral, Rev. Jasper Williams gave a eulogy that got quite a few side eyes on social media, as he railed against the Black Lives Matter Movement, single motherhood, and the tried and true trope of black on black crime. And of course, we’ve got our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s presentation of The Spann Report!

(Ep 9) #BNCPod “Throw The Damn Towel!”

Beer N’ Chicken boys are back after the Easter break, and after the conclusion of the NCAA Basketball tournament. We’ll talk about the end results of both the women’s and men’s tournaments, and which was more exciting. Does the Men’s game have an issue with the lack of stars in this year’s tournament? LiAngelo Ball has declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft. Will we see his name called on draft night, and if so, what team do you think would be the one to do it? RG3 has been picked up by the Baltimore Ravens, and Colin Kaepernick is still without a team, how is that even possible? We’ve got that, and of course, Spann, Walt, and Cliff, have to Wing It! All that and maybe a little bit more on episode 9 of The Beer N’ Chicken Podcast!
