(Episode 228) #TSRP “I Did Because They Did”

On episode 228 of #TSRP Spann is back after taking the week off to watch election results. And boy oh boy did it get popping in this last week. We start out the show with some of Listener Feedback, and then we go into Spann’s Random Thoughts, as Spirit Airlines found themselves on Spann’s shit list, friend of the show, Correy Boyd-Bell is seeing her comedy star rising as she’s being featured on TruTv’s Laff Tracks show with Cipher Sounds, and will be opening up for Monique in Chicago this coming weekend. Spann checked out her set while she was here in Detroit, and her set is definitely worth the price of admission. And because the elections were last week, Spann talks about his experience leading up to election night. Friends that are no longer, and the problems that apathy has on the communities that can least afford to be apathetic. We’re then off into Sexy Time, as a woman claims to be in an exclusive relationship with a ghost, says he’s proposed, and she’s trying to have his baby! Yeah, you read that right, I felt stupid just typing it, but we’re going to see what’s up with that. Then we go In The News, as former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, limited the use of consent decrees by the Justice Department, on his way out of the door. A court has ruled that Obama era student loan regulations must take effect after Betsy DeVos and her Dept. of Education administration have been dragging their feet on the enforcement of those regulations. Michigan legalized the recreational use of marijuana in the state, but what really happens now? And the original founders of “Blexit” have threatened Candace Owens with legal action over her use of the name, and the selling of merchandise using the name as well. Then the craziness of Blue Blazes comes along with a Strip Club closed down after they were found accepting food stamps for lap dances and drug sales. A study has found that men spend up to 7 hours a year in the bathroom just trying to get peace and quiet. And a teacher gets into a fight with student, and folks have raised almost $150K for him on GoFundMe. The craziness doesn’t stop in Proud To Be An American, as Dennis Hof, the pimp best known for his Bunny Ranch in Nevada was just elected to the Nevada state legislature. The rub is, he’s dead. And a white student enrolled at an HBCU actually “wishes she could take credit…” for the pipe bombs that were sent to the Obamas, and other vocal critics of Donald Trump. We’ve got all of that, plus of course, or AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements. It’s been two weeks y’all, and we’ve got a lot to discuss, so lets get right to the Real Talk, All The Time here on The Spann Report!

(Episode 227) #TSRP “If It Wasn’t Important…”

On episode 227 of #TSRP we talk about what happened to trick or treating? Spann wanted to give out candy to the kids, but weren’t no damn kids! What gives? We then hop In The News, as the mid term elections are coming up next week, and the dude currently occupying the White House right now is pulling out all the racist stops to get his people to the polls. Georgia Gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp expressed his “concern” over Georgians exercising their right to vote. He’s still also refused to step down from his role as Secretary of State. And Fox News loses it’s mind after Don Lemon suggested that white men are the most dangerous terrorist threat in the United States. Then we’re off to Blue Blazes, as a young lady by the name of Treasure, went on Dr. Phil to renounce her blackness. And people ran with it, and then it was revealed to be a bunch of BS. And some of y’all played yourselves. A man was shot by his own booby trap in North Carolina while trying to feed squirrels, and Hillary Clinton found herself in some hot water while making a joke referring to black people all looking alike during an interview. Was she out of line, or were people taking her comment out of context? Then it’s Proud To Be An American time, as bombs were sent to prominent Democrats, and high profile critics of the current White House occupant. But somehow, conservative media twisted themselves in knots to suggest that the Democrats were sending the bombs to themselves. And Kanye West has decided to turn away from politics. But does that mean he’s done being Trump’s lap dog? We’ve got all of that, and of course, our AssHat & Champ of The Week. So kick it with your man Spann this week right here on The Spann Report!

(Episode 226) #TSRP “Credit: Things I Wished I Learned Young”

On Episode 226 of #TSRP We’re doing things a bit differently today. We’re going to be talking about Credit. Good Credit, Bad Credit, No Credit, and the things we’ve learned in how to maneuver around the credit game. And by we, Mr. Spann will be joined by J. Muddy. Muddy, who’s a longtime listener of the show is a native of New Orleans, and he and Mr. Spann linked up the last time Spann was visiting the Big Easy during the Red Dress Run festivities. It was during this link up, that this drunken Quicken Loans dude tried to sell Spann on getting a mortgage through Quicken, and the conversation around credit between these two just kind of took off. So we’ve decided to continue that conversation tonight. So hopefully tonight will be an informative, and enjoyable conversation, and we hope we can pass on a little bit of knowledge in the process. Because Spann will tell you, he’s no expert in this area, but it’s something that he’s really been paying a lot of attention to, and learning more about. But of course, this wouldn’t be The Spann Report if we didn’t do at least one segment. So we’ve got some Proud To Be An American coming your way and ourAssHat & Champ Of The Week announcements. So sit back and chill with the fellas tonight right here on The Spann Report!

(Episode 225) #TSRP “He Had Me At Larry Hoover”

On episode 225 of #TSRP we kick off the show with some listener feedback, and then we head right In The News, as a grisly discovery was made in a Detroit area funeral home. And a verdict was made in the case of Jeffery Ziegler, the Rochester Hills man who fired his rifle at a young black boy who knocked on his door asking for directions. And a Federal judge has thrown out a defamation lawsuit by Stormy Daniels against Donald Trump. We move on really quickly to Sexy Time, as a woman has taken a whole new meaning to merging sex and food, like LITERALLY. Then it’s off to Blue Blazes where a South Carolina man shoots his cousin over eating his potato chips. A man is run over by a lawnmower while he attempts to kill his son with a chainsaw. Yes, you read that right. And Bill Cosby just might have had Cheaper To Keep Her playing in his head when it’s found out that Camille Cosby drained one of his “secret” accounts to cover expenses at home. And in Proud to Be An American, a white woman calls the police on a black man babysitting two white children. An Arkansas sheriff forces inmates to wear Nike T-Shirts to “mock” Colin Kaepernick. And a St. Louis woman blocks a black man from entering his apartment. We’ve got all of that and of course, our AssHat & Champ of The Week. And then we get right In The News, as Jason Van Dyke, the Chicago Police officer who gunned down LaQuan McDonald 16 times was found guilty of 2nd degree murder. Can we expect to see more of this going forward? Detroit Public Schools students protested dangerous water conditions in their schools by not showing up to school on Count Day to bring greater attention to that situation. Then it’s off to Blue Blazes as word gets out of the prison walls that Bill Cosby was slapped in the face with a chicken patty for telling a joke… Or was he??? A donut shop in Detroit, with a VERY familiar name, is caught up in an illegal marijuana distribution operation. And did Lil Boosie REALLY give his daughter a brand new car only to tell his daughter’s mother that she’s have to pay the note on it? Say it ain’t so Boosie! And then it’s Proud To Be An American time, as an Allen Park Michigan woman tried to knock a guy’s head off for openly admitting he was a Trump supporter. And in Rhode Island, a Gubernatorial, and Attorney General candidate are both caught with almost 50 pounds of the KUSH! On episode 223 of #TSRP we hop right In The News, as Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has announced that employees of this mega store will now be paid $15 per hour after a lot of scrutiny went into the labor practices of the world’s richest man’s biggest asset. Will Walmart follow suit? And as that announcement was happening, fast food workers in Detroit were staging walkouts in their fight for a $15 minimum wage and unionization rights. We’ll discuss how effective this movement has been so far. And Brett Kavanaugh has found himself a cadre of women willing to cut their nose to spite their faces and support his nomination to the supreme court, which will lead us right into Blue Blazes! As a Trump supporter with daughters in tow goes on national TV to say that girls being groped by young boys is not a big deal. J Cole admits to not voting in the 2016 election, Remy Ma gives a silly ass defense of Bill Cosby and Kanye West went on SNL and gave another pro Trump diatribe, and yes that shit was horrible. And then we’re off to Proud To Be An American, as Donald Trump suggest that it should be illegal to protest. A Texas school girl refused to stand for the pledge of allegiance, and the Texas Attorney General is backing the school who reprimanded her, and a white social studies teacher whom was fired because of a racist slavery lesson she gave to her students is now suing claiming “reverse racism.” All of that and of course we have our AssHat & Champ of The Week announcements.
